Other great places to go in Texas for outdoor adventure

Garner State Park
Lost Maples State Park
Enchanted Rock State Park
Pedernales Falls State Park
All of the above are located in the Texas Hill Country, which is west of Austin/San Antonio.

If you're willing to drive between 10-12 hours, Big Bend National Park is outstanding: Mountainous, desert scenery, and one of the best places in the country to see the stars because its empty for hundreds of miles around!
