Do you remember how we said that Americans usually offer an excuse why they cannot do something with you?

So, someone asks you out on a date and you don't want to go. You say, "I'd love to, but...."

1. I have to floss my teeth.
2. I want to spend more time with my blender.
3. The President said he might drop in.
4. I have to check the freshness dates on my dairy products.
5. I'm planning to go downtown to try on gloves.
6. My crayons all melted together.
7. I'm trying to see how long I can go without saying yes.
8. I'm going down to the bakery to watch the dough rise.
9. I'm being deported back to my country.
10. I'm converting my calendar watch from Julian to Gregorian.
11. I have to fulfill my potential.
12. I have some real hard words to look up in the dictionary.
13. None of my socks match.
14. I have to be on the next train to Bermuda (do you know about the Bermuda Triangle?)
15. I changed the lock on my door and now I can't get out.
16. I'm making a home movie called "The Thing That Grew in My
Refrigerator."
17. My chocolate-appreciation class meets that night.
